M2TS is a container file format for multiplexing audio, video and other streams. This format is commonly used for high definition video on Blu-ray Disc and AVCHD. Because M2ts files are raw AVCHD videos, the main disadvantages are large-size and they can't be played on the common players such as Apple TV, Zune, PSP, PS3, Pocket PC, Creative Zen, Archos and other video players. Currently, M2TS files can be played using the Picture Motion Browser, which is an application video player provided with Sony AVCHD camcorders.

Here is some info about 3GPP2 and 3GP. 3GPP2 file format is a multimedia container format defined by the 3GPP2 for 3G CDMA2000 multimedia services. It is very similar to 3GP file format, but has some extensions and limitations in comparison to 3GP. 3GP is designed for GSM-based Phones and may have the filename extension .3gp while 3G2 is designed for CDMA-based Phones and may have the filename extension .3g2.
